This August, the shopping centre launched its new photovoltaic solar energy system, which delivers 484 kWp of installed power.
As part of its ambitious Sustainability Strategy and its commitment to the environment, Centro Comercial El Ingenio, the shopping centre owned by Salsa Patrimonio and managed by MVGM, has unveiled its brand-new photovoltaic solar energy installation, which will cut its emissions by around 200 tonnes of CO2 per year. Over 25 years, this is equivalent to withdrawing more than 4,000 cars from circulation or planting more than 3,000 trees. The use of photovoltaic solar energy allows the Shopping Centre to opt for an energy alternative that is respectful of the environment, and which thinks about the future. This smarter use of energy will also contribute to significant cost savings.
This action follows on from a process that began with the refurbishment and renovation of El Ingenio, making a making commitment to improving the efficiency of its facilities, achieving an A rating for Energy Efficiency, with energy consumption of 61.4 kW h/m² year and emissions of 10.40 kg CO2/m² year (data that will now be improved again).
In addition, El Ingenio continues to work on its ESG Plan, aligned with the SDGs, to add further good practices and obtain new certifications, with the aim of making this the most sustainable shopping centre possible, always respectful of the environment, health, and society.
